In the implementation of various Social Protection programmes, the ministry uses a number of community structures. In particular, the ministry, in the implementation of the Social Cash Transfer programme, uses Community Assistance Committees known as CWACs. The CWACs play an important role of awareness raising, community mobilization as well as referral processes for clients. The people who sit in these committees do so on voluntary basis.

Following the dissolution of CWACs across the country, the ministry through the District Social Welfare Offices has, today, 7th February, 2022 commenced elections to usher in new members of CWACs. Click here for the Press Statement by the Hon. Minister.
