
His Royal Highness, Chief Chiwala of the Lamba Speaking people of Ndola says he is impressed with the progress made with regards to social protection programming in the country.
And the traditional leader has expressed interest to collaborate with the Ministry in order to enhance youth empowerment programmes which are currently running under his Chiefdom.
Speaking when Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Honourable Doreen Mwamba paid him a courtesy call, Chief Chiwala appreciated the many social protection programmes and also called for more support for youth led initiatives.
He said by so doing, many vices among the youth would come to an end and help to empower them with life changing opportunities.
He disclosed that he gave youths free land on which they can use to engage in different income generating activities, thereby complementing government’s efforts of job creation.
Chief Chiwala said it is commendable that the lives of the poor and vulnerable are being transformed through the improvement in the implementation of many social protection programmes.
And the Minister informed the Chief that a lot of good will has been shown by many stakeholders to support the programmes so that many can be included on various empowerment initiatives.
Ms. Mwamba disclosed that cooperating have expressed interest to support social protection programmes, an indication that prudent and transparent implementation of the programme is yielding positive results.
The Minister is on the Copperbelt Province to conduct monitoring and evaluation of various social protection programmes.
