Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Ms. Doreen Mwamba has today met with Chreso Ministries, to discuss wide ranging issues regarding social protection.
The Minister highlighted the need for collaboration, considering that the mandate of the Ministry and that of Chreso of taking care of the vulnerable, is similar.
She therefore directed that the memorandum of understanding which is on the cards between the Ministry and Chreso, be expedited so that the development partnerships can be enhanced, for effective implementation of various programmes.
“We have a huge mandate and we look forward to meeting committed partners like yourselves, because we are in a hurry to make the lives of people better” Ms. Mwamba said.
Ms. Mwamba said she is happy that Chreso has been actively involved in many social issues, which makes it easier for government to operate.
And Chreso Ministries Reverend, Dr. Helmut Reutter noted the need to deepen the working relationship in various fields in supporting people who are vulnerable in society.
He said having worked in various fields such as health and education, Reverend said Chreso wishes to collaborate with the Ministry to ensure that there is enhanced outreach in various categories of social protection.
He said it is encouraging that the Social Welfare department under the ministry has been active in Chongwe and works closely with Chreso.
Reverend Reutter also called for exchange programmes to be facilitated in order to promote life changing opportunities for the vulnerable.
