The World Bank, led by Practice Manager of Social Protection and Jobs, Mr. Robert Chase, has met with Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, Permanent Secretary, Ms. Angela Kawandami to discuss Zambia’s social protection sector.
The World Bank has since welcomed the leadership and hard work which has demonstrated strong results in the delivery of Social Cash Transfers (SCT) and implementation of many other social protection programmes in the Ministry.
This was when the World Bank team paid a courtesy call on the Permanent Secretary.
The World Bank has further appreciated the timely and predictable SCT payments resulting in the program scaling up to almost 30% of the population and 50% of the poor with a more adequate transfer value.
Mr. Chase is happy with the innovation on the rollout of various social protection programmes, with emphasis on the Supporting Women’s Livelihoods (SWL).
And speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary reaffirmed Government’s commitment towards quality delivery of social protection programs.
