Director for Community Development, Ms. Patricia Muyamwa who graced the 4th and 5th graduation ceremonies held at Munyumbwe and Monze Skills Training Centres in Southern Province respectively, said the Ministry is in a hurry to develop life skills that will help individuals to be self reliant and contribute to national development.
Ms. Muyamwa further said she is happy that of the total graduates, 148 are females while 94 are males who have made progressive steps in society through acquiring knowledge at the skills development centres, which are a key component in achieving government’s goal of empowering people without leaving anyone behind.
“The New Dawn government is keen to ensure that skills development is promoted so as to help reduce poverty amongst the poor and vulnerable households in the country” she said.
She further urged the graduates to take advantage of the skills acquired to contribute to social-economic development and said it is gratifying that people from all walks of life have expressed desire and interest to better their lives through skills development.
And Ms. Muyamwa observed that the availability of the Constituency
Development Fund (CDF) makes it even more interesting, as more is achievable because the fund can support students to be trained and further access the fund to engage in income generating activities.
She has also urged management at the skills centres to also take advantage of CDF to improve and expand the facilities so that they continue to offer valuable skills to the community by providing high quality and state-of-the-art skills training.
And Provincial Community Development Officer, Mr Ellison Siansimbi thanked government for creating a conducive environment for skills development in the country.
He said Southern Province has made good progress in terms of skills development and assured that more will be done as a result of good political-will currently prevailing.
