
Trade Kings Foundation has officially handed over the renovated Matero After Care Centre in Lusaka to the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services.
The care centre which was renovated at a total cost of K850, 000 houses older persons without care and support from families and communities, as well as those with mental disabilities.
Apart from carrying out renovation works, Trade Kings Foundation has also constructed a female ablution block and provided beds and mattresses among other things for the centre.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Community Development and Social Services Minister Doreen Mwamba thanked Trade Kings Foundation for the kind gesture, saying it supplements Government’s development agenda of improving social protection services.
“It is particularly pleasing that trade Kings Foundation fully supports the social protection agenda in Zambia,” Ms. Mwamba said.
The Minister also encouraged other corporate entities to emulate the spirit of helping the needy in society exhibited by Trade Kings Foundation.
And Trade Kings Group Public Relations and Corporate Affairs Manager Bridget Kambobe said her organisation is committed to contributing to the wellbeing of vulnerable people in Zambia.
Ms. Kambobe said the renovation of the centre is one of Trade King´s various partnerships with Government.
“As Trade Kings, we believe in inclusion. Every person deserves to live with dignity and in a good environment, it is a human right,” Ms. Kambobe said.
Meanwhile, Matero After Care Centre Chairperson Hellen Samatebele said the renovation of centre will improve the living standard and operation of the institution, which currently has a case load of 44 people.
And giving a vote of thanks a resident at the centre, Usher Banda, described the kind gesture by Trade Kings and Government as a step forward towards inclusion in the country’s development.
