Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Ms.Doreen Mwamba joined various stakeholders to celebrate this year’s Non-Governmental Organisations Day. The NGO day being celebrated under the theme, “Celebrating The Works of Non-Governmental Organisations in Zambia”, brought together NGO’s from across the country, who had an opportunity to showcase to the Minister, their various products and services. And when she addressed them, Ms. Mwamba assured that the process to repeal and replace the NGO Act number 16 of 2009 will be completed soon with hope that the Bill will become law this year. Ms. Mwamba recognized the challenges that NGO’s face, with regards to the legal framework which poses a coordination challenge. The Minister also recognized the complementary role NGO’s continue to play in national development process and assured that government will continue to strive to create a conducive environment for their active participation in development.
