The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminate poverty, improve food security and reduce inequalities among the poor and vulnerable in the country.

Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Permanent Secretary, Ms. Angela Kawandami thanked the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Regional Director, Mr. Patrice Talla for the tremendous support that his institution has been rendering to the Ministry towards the development of the Food Security Pack (FSP) Management Information System aimed at improving targeting of beneficiaries.

She said that the MIS, once rolled out, will greatly improve productivity and food security through better data management, provision of comprehensive extension services and efficient provision of social protection programmes such as the food security packs to the beneficiary households.

And Mr. Talla assured that FAO shall continue to provide technical support to social protection programmes through strengthening the implementation of the FSP and enhancing agribusiness.

He said the Ministry is playing a commendable role in ending poverty, and therefore, integrating an agribusiness approach to FSP will enable graduated beneficiaries have access to financial linkages.
