
Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Ms. Doreen Mwamba says her Ministry is open for strategic partnerships and effective cooperation that aim at improving the welfare of the vulnerable in society.
This was when Ms. Estrella Merlos, the Head of Partnerships from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) paid a courtesy call on her office, to discuss numerous issues on skills development and possibilities of establishing training centers that will offer women and the youth an opportunity to advance their lives.
And Ms. Merlos, stated that her organisation was working towards assisting governments to attain sustainable development goals (SDGS) through education awareness and value chain to foster socio-economic development.
She said that investing in skills development was important because it provides a positive social impact on communities as individuals are empowered with business and life skills and eliminates. She further iterated that skills training curb vices such alcohol and substance abuse which often happen due to lack of training.
