
The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services has donated assorted food stuffs and relevant materials to Home of Happiness for children with disabilities in Lusaka.
This was part of the Ministry´s activities marking Zambia´s 59th Independence Day Celebration and a way of showing love to vulnerable children in society.
The donation was presented by the Minister Ms. Doreen Mwamba who was accompanied by the Ministry ´ s management officials and some members of staff.
Ms. Mwamba reaffirmed the Government ´ s commitment towards supporting vulnerable children in society and hailed the orphanage ´ s management for providing a home for vulnerable children.
“Looking after children, especially those with disabilities and special needs is not easy, it is a calling and job well done to everyone at the orphanage. As Government we will work with you and ensure that the children here are comfortable,” Ms. Mwamba said.
And in receiving the donation, Director of the orphanage Benson Mwansa appreciated the kind by the Ministry, saying the food items and other materials would go a long way in addressing some of the challenges that the orphanage face.
Mr. Mwansa indicated that the orphanage is currently looking after 86 vulnerable children, including those without any disabilities.
