Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Ms. Doreen Mwamba, has participated in a Ministerial roundtable held on the sidelines of the 68th Session of the Commission on Status of Women.
The Minister made an intervention on the priority theme, “Mobilizing financing for gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls: Policies and strategies to end women’s and girls’ poverty”.
She highlighted the strategies and policies that Zambia has put in place such as the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), to facilitate women’s and girls’ access to finances and other productive resources like land and farming inputs.
Many delegations also underscored the different measures their respective countries use to mobilize finances for the empowerment of women and girls.
Ms. Mwamba, is leading the Zambian delegation, at the 68th Session of the Commission on Status of Women (CSW68), at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, United States.
The annual UN conference which is taking place from 11th – 22nd March 2024 is being held under the priority theme, “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective”.
