SIAVONGA, Zambia 🇿🇲, Thursday, May 2, 2024 – Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, Permanent Secretary Ms. Angela Kawandami accompanied a delegation from Malawi 🇲🇼 who are on a learning visit in the country to appreciate and share experiences on the implementation of Girl’s Education and Women’s Empowerment and Livelihoods (GEWEL) project and Food Security Pack to pay a courtesy call on Siavonga District Commissioner, Mr. Geoffrey Jakopo.
Speaking during the courtesy call, Malawian head of delegation, Principal Secretary, Doctor Nertha Semphere Mgala said, she was eager to learn from Zambia’s experiences and perspectives on social protection.
Further, the visit will collectively identify best practices, address common challenges, and explore innovative solutions that will strengthen the social safety nets in the two countries.
In addition, she noted that Malawi was committed to strengthening partnerships and collaborations with neighbouring countries in order to achieve a vision of inclusive and sustainable development.
While in Siavonga, the team also interacted with beneficiaries of Social Cash Transfer, Supporting Women’s Livelihoods, Keeping Girls in School and Food Security Pack to have firsthand experience on the positive impact the programmes have on the welfare of the people.
