
Farmers in Luapula Province have lauded the Government through the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services for transforming their lives through the Wetlands Cropping Programme.
Catherine Chama, a resident of Mwense district, has shared how agricultural input support in the form of fertilizer and seed has significantly improved her livelihood, allowing her to provide for her family and maintain a decent standard of living.
“I am grateful for the agricultural support which has changed my life,” Catherine said, highlighting the positive impact on her family’s well-being.
Further showcasing the programme’s success, Mr Chabu Seba from Kashiba area in Mwense expressed pride in the flourishing market for his agricultural produce, attributing his financial stability to Government assistance.
Set to benefit from the soon to be implemented Emergency Wetlands Sub-Programme targeting 30,200 beneficiary households in Luapula Province, the farmers are therefore optimistic that their future is even brighter.
“The support from the government has boosted my market and helped me sustain my family,” boasted Mr Seba, emphasizing the programme’s role in bolstering local economies.
Director for Community Development, Mrs. Patricia Muyamwa, emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity when she met with farmers during the Programme implementation monitoring exercise.
“Our goal is not only to ensure food security but also to promote nutritional diversity,” Mrs Muyamwa stated, underscoring the initiative’s focus on cultivating a wide range of crops.
