The government, through the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, is impressed with the steady progress coupled with community dedication and ownership of the South Korean-funded ‘Saemaul Undong’ projects in Kafue and Chikankata Districts.
Ministry Permanent Secretary Ms. Angela Kawandami has expressed her satisfaction with the progress of the various community-driven projects in Shakulya, Mwachiyaba, Nanduba and Nansenga villages which she says demonstrates dedication by community members to enhance their welfare through “unity of purpose”.
During her inspection visit of various projects, Ms. Kawandami was accompanied by the Director of Community Development, Mrs. Patricia Muyamwa, who together evaluated the impact of these initiatives on the local communities and their potential to transform lives.
Ms. Kawandami was particularly impressed by the level of community ownership, dedication, and participation in these projects, which aim to enhance the socio-economic conditions of the rural populace.
She said both the Zambian and South Korean governments will undoubtedly stand proud for the progress made through community-driven passion and dedication on the projects whose sustainability relies on good performance and progress
“The active involvement of the community members in these life-changing projects is truly encouraging. It is a testament to the collective effort towards achieving community prosperity,” she stated.
The Permanent Secretary further encouraged the residents of Chikankata and Kafue to maintain their dedication to the development projects, emphasizing the importance of hard work and collaboration in driving sustainable development.
And Chikankata District Commissioner, Mr. Timothy Chipolyonga has hailed the continued collaboration among key government Ministries and entities in driving development and described the Saemaul Undong project as a game changer
