The Department of Community Development in Choma district has commenced the distribution of Emergency Wetlands Cropping component which will see over 3200 beneficiaries receive their farming inputs under the Food Security Pack programme.
Choma District Community Development Officer, Mrs. Esther Kalonga said targeted beneficiaries will receive fertilizer, maize and vegetable seed to improve food and nutritional security at household level.
Speaking when the exercise was launched in Choma today, Mrs. Kalonga clarified that the support was only targeting vulnerable but viable farmer households whose food security was affected by the drought.
Mrs. Kalonga said in light of shocks posed by climate change, the government will continue providing support to its people so that their welfare is improved.
