
The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services has held discussions centered on ensuring effective management of the transition following the imminent handover of the Zambia Integrated Social Protection Information System (ZISPIS) by the World Bank to the Zambian Government.
The meeting chaired by the Ministry Permanent Secretary Ms. Angela Kawandami emphasized the critical need for the smooth transition of operations of ZISPIS to ensure uninterrupted delivery of social protection programmes.
Ms. Kawandami urged the ICT department to enhance their preparedness, especially following their recent managerial and technical training in South Africa.
The Permanent Secretary stressed the importance of swiftly finalizing a roadmap for the transition with clear steps and required activities as well as the need to identify and assign roles and responsibilities to respective officers. The Permanent Secretary also requested the team to ensure that all issues hindering the system’s effectiveness and any operational barriers are effectively addressed.
And Director for ICT, Dr David Phiri, acknowledged the support to equip the members of staff with technical training and assured the Permanent Secretary of the Team’s commitment to ensure the sustenance of ZISPIS operations after the handover.
