The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services has held its 6th combined graduation ceremony for 228 graduates from Community Development Skills Training Centres in Southern Province.
The colorful event celebrated the achievements of graduates from Monze, Munyumbwe, Chirundu, and Ngwenya, training centers who successfully completed training in Home Management, Tailoring and Design, Bricklaying, and General Agriculture.
Southern Province Permanent Secretary, Dr. Namani Monze officiated at the graduation ceremony and encouraged the graduates to become pioneers of development, whether through employment or entrepreneurship, emphasizing their important roles in promoting socio-economic development across the country
Dr. Monze further urged the Ministries of Local Government and Rural Development and Community Development and Social Services to devise strategies for leveraging the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to maximize the potential of the graduates.
He highlighted the need to create linkages that would enable the newly skilled individuals to contribute positively to national development.
“You do not have control over your past, but you certainly have control over your future,” Dr. Monze stated, motivating the graduates to remain focused and strive to be agents of change within their communities, having gained skills from well-established training centres.
And Monze Town Council Secretary Mr. Beston Kajoba, who represented the District Commissioner, Mr.Mwanza Malambo, emphasized the transformative power of skills development and called for collaboration among stakeholders to further promote national development and harness the potential of the newly trained individuals.
Meanwhile, Acting Director under the Department of Community Development, Mr. Aaron Phiri acknowledged the government’s ongoing efforts to uplift lives through skills training and encouraged the graduates to seize the opportunities not only to develop themselves but also contribute to national development.
In a vote of thanks, Jessy Mbewe declared that the new graduates are now ready to go into their various communities and utilize their skills for self and national development and called for support from stakeholders to help them get established in their new journey.
