Zambian children from across the country have joined their counterparts from six other countries in readiness to commemorate World Children’s Day in Zimbabwe.
Under the theme: “Educate and Skill the African Child for Posterity”, the children from Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Malawi and South Africa, will tomorrow, during the official commemoration, express their views freely on various matters that affect them, while influencing decisions that border on their future.
Commemorated each year on 20th November, World Children’s Day will further accord children an opportunity to interact with Heads of State from the region to present their ideas and thoughts boldly to inspire change.
Host and guest of honor, the Zimbabwean President, Mr. Emmerson Mnangagwa together with other regional Presidents is expected to give policy direction concerning issues affecting children not only in the region but globally.
The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services which is mandated to oversee the affairs of children in the county is also aligning with this year’s regional World Children’s Day theme to foster inclusivity in the promotion, protection and upholding of children’s rights.
