
The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services has launched a Service Delivery Charter, the Whistleblower Policy and The Gifts and Benefits Policy which outline the Ministry’s commitment to providing high-quality services to its stakeholders.
The three policy documents are a clear roadmap and benchmarks, performance, and intended interventions and expectations from the public.
The newly delivered documents will augment the Ministry’s planned deliverables streamlined on its processes with focus to remain top notch of innovation accompanied with collective best practices. As the mission to uplift and protect the most vulnerable members of our society requires operating with transparency, efficiency, and a deep sense of responsibility.
Speaking during the launch, the Honourable Minister of Community Development and Social Mrs. Doreen Mwamba, MP emphasized that the launched documents were a crucial part of the ministry’s commitment and mandate to deliver basic social protection programmes, to enhance our service delivery and ensure the highest standards of integrity and accountability.
She stated that service charter outlines the Ministry’s commitment to quality service delivery, embodying the vision of a more inclusive, caring, and resilient society, where every person can live a dignified life.
Further, Mrs. Mwamba noted that the whistleblower policy was an essential tool for promoting transparency and accountability within the Ministry, providing a secure and supportive framework for individuals who come forward to report misconduct or unethical behavior.
In addition, Mrs. Mwamba also reiterated the Ministry’s commitment against corruption, highlighting that the launch of the gifts and benefits policy sets clear guidelines on how gifts and benefits should be handled within the Ministry to prevent conflicts of interest and corruption.
“The launch of these policy documents today, therefore marks a pivotal step in strengthening our operations and aligning our values with the aspirations of our people. And enforcing these policy documents shall instill a culture of good governance and ethical conduct among all employees”. Mrs. Mwamba said.
Speaking at the same launch, was the Ministry Permanent Secretary Ms. Angela Kawandami who was am optimistic that the work culture within the Ministry will be promoted, while service delivery will be heightened as we serve the poor and vulnerable in society.
The Permanent Secretary also reiterated that that implementation of these policy documents require consented efforts and commitment of all members of staff in the Ministry in order to achieve the intended objectives and urged them to be part and parcel of this development agenda. The Ministry aims to continuously improve its services and remain transparent and accountable in its operations.
The policy documents are course of implementing the Ministry’s mandate and a reminder to reinforce outlined protocols to the needs of the citizenry at the forefront of the Ministry’s set deliverable goals, and additionally to uphold professionalism, strong work ethics, listen to feedback and learn from practical experiences to better serve the people.
