The Cash plus Agenda has received overwhelming support in Northern Province with a call for more consultations for its effective implementation.
The cash plus Agenda is an approach to social protection programming where beneficiaries receive additional support to the cash transfer to not only enhance empowerment, but also to facilitate for graduation pathways.
Northern Province Permanent Secretary, Mr. Bernard Mpundu, has noted that the initiative was beneficial as it accords beneficiaries added opportunities to better their lives, while reducing perpetual dependence on government support.
The Permanent Secretary said this in a speech read on his behalf by his Deputy, Ms. Beauty Undi Phiri, during a courtesy call by Ministry of Community Development and Social Services staff led by Chief Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Mr. Kennedy Muma Mukupa.
The team is in Northern Province to conduct cash plus Agenda consultative meetings with stakeholders at district level who are crucial for its effective implementation.
Mr. Mpundu therefore, encouraged the Ministry team to engage extensively with various stakeholders in order to track progress of the life changing social protection programmes.
And Mr. Mukupa highlighted that in Northern Province, the cash plus Agenda is being implemented in Mpulungu and Mungwi districts through the single window initiative with commitment to enhance implementation.
