The International Labour Organization (ILO) has reaffirmed its commitment to partner with government to improve the welfare of vulnerable populations in the country.
ILO Project Manager, Mr. Jean-Luis Lambeau has since disclosed that the organization will introduce a global accelerator initiative aimed at stimulating economic growth and creating jobs, particularly for vulnerable populations.
This came to light during a consultative meeting with the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Permanent Secretary Ms Angela Kawandami who was represented by, Director for Social Welfare, Mr. Nelson Nyangu.
Mr. Lambeau emphasized that the initiative will identify key areas with potential for growth and economic development to be promoted.
And Mr. Nyangu stated that the Ministry is always ready to welcome initiatives which improve the social protection programmes in promoting economic growth and sustainability for the poor and vulnerable in society.
He further assured that government through the Ministry is ready to collaborate with ILO to create an enabling environment that fosters job creation and economic growth.
