Government, through the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services has called for adherence to the Food Security Pack (FSP) programme guidelines among government officers to promote implementation efficiency.
Speaking when he officially opened the validation meeting of the FSP guidelines, Director for Community Development, Mr Changano Ngoi, acknowledged the programme as being an integral strategy in promoting food security.
He therefore said that the validation of the submissions made toward the revision of the FSP guidelines for 2019, is a crucial and an important step in ensuring that the programme evolves in line with the current needs of different communities.
“This programme is at the heart of our nation’s food security strategy, and it is imperative that we work together within the stipulated guidelines to ensure its effective implementation for the well-being of our citizens”, Mr Ngoi said.
The Director who acknowledged the hard work and dedication of officers at various levels within the Ministry, called for transparency in all aspects of the programme, urging them to uphold the principles of accountability and openness as it is not only in line with government’s development agenda but also a collective responsibility to improve the welfare of the poor and vulnerable in society.
And Director for Internal Audit, Mr Julius Mwanza encouraged the officers to uphold integrity in programme implementation, which was instrumental in empowering over 490,000 beneficiaries in 2024 countrywide by enhancing its responsiveness and performance.
Meanwhile, Director for ICT, Dr. David Phiri, further assured that implementation of the programme will be enhanced once the programme is fully migrated to an automated system in line with the ministry’s digitization agenda.
It is hoped that the review that the review of the fsp guidelines will improve targeting and efficiency in programme implementation, ultimately enhancing household food security among the poor farmer households countrywide
