The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services (MCDSS) has announced plans to fully operationalize the Food Security Pack Management Information System (FSP-MIS) this year.
The system is designed to streamline the selection, redemption, and distribution of Food Security Pack (FSP) inputs to eligible beneficiaries, marking a significant step toward improving the efficiency of the programme.
With technical support from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Ministry has developed the FSP-MIS system to support the FSP, an agriculture-based intervention targeting vulnerable but viable farmer households.
During the FSP-MIS training session held in Chongwe District, the Director for Community Development, Mr. Changano Ngoi, expressed the Ministry’s eagerness to fully leverage the system, emphasizing that the digital platform would play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the programme.
Mr. Ngoi also emphasized that the introduction of the FSP-MIS system would increase transparency, reduce audit queries, and enhance accountability.
Director for Information Communication Technology (ICT), Dr. David Phiri, also addressed the participants, underscoring the importance of transitioning from the manual system to the FSP-MIS.
Dr. Phiri, who is leading a team of experts from FAO, Smart Zambia, and the Ministry’s ICT unit, stressed that the move to a digital platform would not only improve service delivery but also help track the distribution and usage of FSP inputs more effectively.
