A total of 58 students at the Holy Family Home Craft Centre, a facility operated by the Catholic Church with the support of the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services have graduated in various skills.
The students comprising 53 females and 5 males, have graduated in tailoring and designing, cooking and baking, knitting, handcraft, home management, moral and spiritual instructions.
Speaking when he officiated at the graduation ceremony, yesterday, Director for Community Development, Mr. Changano Ngoi, commended the church for its pivotal role in complementing government efforts in skills development.
He emphasized that such initiatives are critical for enhancing personal growth, community resilience, and national development.
Mr. Ngoi highlighted the positive impact the Centre has had on the surrounding community, particularly in reducing gender-based violence.
He noted that by equipping women with practical skills and empowering them to become self-reliant, the centre has contributed to stronger and safer households.
And when he addressed the graduates, Mr. Ngoi urged them to utilize government empowerment initiatives, such as the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), to establish their own businesses and transform into job creators within their communities.
And Holy Family Homecraft Centre, sister in Charge, Sr Magdaline Wanja Munyua, expressed gratitude to the government through the Ministry for its support in sustaining skills development.
She reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to equipping community members with life-changing skills and called for stakeholders support in addressing some operational challenges faced at the centre.
