Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Ms. Doreen Mwamba, has launched the Save the Children Zambia 2025–2027 Country Strategy Plan (CSP), with a call for strengthened partnerships to improve the well-being of children across the country.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Mwamba said the Strategy reinforces the Government’s commitment to placing children at the center of national development planning and investment, adding that it aligns with the country’s policy priorities and ambition to achieve Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
She noted that the strategy’s focus on health, education, social protection, climate adaptation, child protection, and youth participation reflects the Government’s priorities. She emphasized that these efforts are further reinforced by the Government’s increased budget allocation to social protection in the 2025 National Budget.
Ms. Mwamba used the platform to call for continued collaboration among cooperating partners, Civil Society Organisations, traditional leaders, faith-based organisations, and Government to address challenges affecting children, including multi-dimensional poverty, malnutrition, child protection concerns, learning gaps, and climate vulnerability.
She commended Save the Children for promoting locally-led programming, community accountability, and child participation.
The Minister of Community Development and Social Services reaffirmed the Government’s resolve that no child should be left behind. “No child should die from preventable causes, no child should be denied education, protection, or opportunity,” she added.
Save the Children International Country Director, Ms. Chilobe Kambikambi, said the Strategy aligns with the Children’s Code Act No.12 of 2022, the 8th National Development Plan, and key national policies on education, health, social protection, and climate change.
Ms. Kambikambi explained that the plan incorporates climate-resilient livelihoods, child-sensitive social protection, and advocacy for policies that mitigate climate shocks.
She reaffirmed Save the Children’s commitment to stand with Zambia’s most vulnerable and hardest-to-reach children in the roll out of the strategy.
