The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services is conducting training in precision farming and the Food Security Pack Management Information System (FSPMIS) for all Community Development Assistants (CDAs) to enhance food and nutrition security.
The training aims to equip officers with knowledge of modern farming methods such as soil testing, crop monitoring, and targeted input application.
This will enable beneficiary farmer households to make informed, data-driven decisions while minimizing losses.
Speaking during the official opening of the training in Mongu, Ministry Chief Risk Officer, Mr. Miselo Chita, highlighted the importance of the Food Security Pack Management Information System (FSPMIS), describing it as a vital tool in improving efficiency and accountability, while reducing risks associated with non-mechanized farming.
He further noted that the FSPMIS will enable officers to effectively track beneficiaries, monitor the distribution of farming inputs, and provide accurate reports, thereby enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
“Community Development Officers are at the heart of driving change in rural areas to boost agricultural productivity, strengthen food security, and increase incomes for small-scale farmers, ultimately benefiting poor and vulnerable households,” he said.
Mr. Chita encouraged the officers to fully utilize the knowledge and tools provided during the training to make a meaningful impact in their respective communities.
