Over 98 percent of beneficiaries under Phase Eight (8) of the Supporting Women’s Livelihoods (SWL) programme in North-Western Province have received their payments and are expanding their various livelihood ventures.
Beneficiaries in Mufumbwe, Ikelengi, Mwinilunga, and Kapombo districts have successfully received their grants through digital platforms.
Spot checks conducted in the four districts have revealed success stories in areas such as livestock rearing, grocery businesses, farming, and tailoring, among others, demonstrating the programme’s positive impact in transforming lives and communities.
One beneficiary, Mavis Mulangi of Nyampafuka Community Welfare Assistance Committee (CWAC) in Mufumbwe, has made significant progress with her tailoring business, which she plans to expand into other livelihood ventures.
“My tailoring business has grown and has given rise to other income-generating activities such as livestock rearing. This has enabled me to buy more materials to produce school uniforms and, in turn, expand my income base,” she said.
Meanwhile, Mufumbwe Community Development Officer, Mr. John Masumba, has attested to the transformation in the livelihoods of women in the district.
Mr. Masumba said the successful disbursement of the Phase Eight grants is a progressive development, as it has empowered many women to efficiently manage and grow their businesses.
