The expansion of the Social Cash Transfer (SCT) Programme from 1.3 million to the current 1.5 million beneficiaries continues to positively transform the lives of vulnerable households across the country.

Through the programme, beneficiaries have improved their food, nutritional and financial security, with many expressing gratitude to Government for its continued commitment to strengthening social protection and improving livelihoods.

Evidence of this transformation has been witnessed during the ongoing Social Cash Transfer monitoring exercise being conducted in selected districts across the country, where beneficiaries have shared inspiring stories of progress from extreme vulnerability to greater stability and self-reliance.

“I have seen my family move from hardship to stability. I was struggling to make ends meet, but through this support, I am now a farmer and a businesswoman,” testified Ms Brenda Mulenga of Mporokoso District during the monitoring exercise.

To further strengthen transparency, accountability and service delivery, the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, with support from the World Bank, has launched a targeted monitoring exercise of the Social Cash Transfer Programme beneficiary selection process in selected districts.

The exercise is being undertaken by the Ministerial Delivery Unit (MDU) in line with its mandate to track performance, verify results and ensure the effective implementation of key Government programmes.
