All is set for the International Training Programme (ITP) Regional Workshop, which opens tomorrow in Lusaka and will bring together about 40 to 45 participants from eight countries.
The workshop aims to strengthen capacities in social protection systems design, results-based management, change programme implementation, financing, partnerships and programme development.
The four-day workshop will also provide a platform for Zambia to showcase its Single Window Initiative as a model for integrated social protection service delivery while promoting knowledge sharing and regional collaboration.
Ahead of the event, ITP Chairperson Dr. Michael Samson paid a courtesy call on the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services and commended Zambia for its progress in implementing integrated social protection programmes.
He noted that many countries are keen to continue learning from Zambia’s innovative social protection models and experiences.
Dr. Samson said the workshop will feature panel discussions on strengthening collaboration between governments and the private sector to advance sustainable development and enhance social protection delivery.
Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary Ms. Angela Kawandami reaffirmed Zambia’s readiness to host the workshop, noting that the ITP has significantly contributed to capacity building, improved programme implementation and evidence-based policy formulation.
She said Zambia looks forward to discussions on sustainable financing for social protection and sharing lessons and progress made in improving the lives of vulnerable households.
The workshop is expected to generate valuable recommendations that will support participating countries in building more inclusive, resilient and sustainable social protection systems.
