Delegates participating in the International Training Programme (ITP) have successfully conducted a field visit to appreciate the impact of Zambia’s social protection programmes being implemented under the Single Window Initiative.
The delegates, drawn from eight countries, expressed admiration for Zambia’s well-coordinated social protection system and the tangible impact it is making in improving the lives of vulnerable individuals and communities.
During the visit, the delegation interacted with beneficiaries of various programmes, including the Social Cash Transfer (SCT), Food Security Pack (FSP), and Supporting Women’s Livelihoods (SWL) initiatives.
The delegates gained firsthand insight into how Government social protection interventions are transforming lives, reducing poverty, and strengthening household resilience.
Speaking after the visit, Ms. Saiti Akatukunda from Uganda described Zambia’s social protection landscape as inspiring and a model that could be adapted in her country to achieve greater impact.
“I am happy to learn about what Zambia is doing to promote the socio-economic welfare of poor and vulnerable people. The progress being made is truly inspiring,” she said.
The field visit formed part of the International Training Programme’s efforts to facilitate peer learning and the exchange of best practices in social protection among participating countries.
