The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services has won two first prizes at the just-ended Africa Public Service Day celebrations.

The Ministry emerged victorious in the Innovation and Digital Excellence Award and the Community Champion Award categories, in recognition of its outstanding contribution to public service delivery and community development.

Held under the theme, “Enhancing Public Sector Institutions and Empowering Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships to Achieve Universal Water Availability and Safe Sanitation by 2063,” the event provided a platform for institutions to showcase innovative approaches to service delivery.

The Ministry demonstrated how it has effectively integrated water resource considerations into the implementation of various human development and social protection programmes, while successfully aligning its interventions with the event’s theme.

Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Permanent Secretary, Ms. Angela Kawandami, received the awards on behalf of the Ministry and described the achievement as both inspiring and motivating.

Ms. Kawandami said the two awards are a testament to the Ministry’s hard work, innovation, and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable citizens.

She noted that the recognition also reflects the remarkable growth and impact of Zambia’s social protection sector.

She commended members of staff for their dedication and professionalism, and encouraged them to remain focused on delivering quality services and advancing the welfare of poor and vulnerable households across the country.

The awards underscore MCDSS’s continued commitment to innovation, community empowerment, and the effective delivery of social protection programmes aimed at transforming lives and promoting inclusive development.
